Remembering Joe Dotoli
Make-A-Wish Illinois lost a valued colleague and supporter when Joseph Dotoli of Inverness unexpectedly passed away on June 5, 2012.
Joe began volunteering with Make-A-Wish in 2000 as a member of the Golf Committee, planning and participating in the annual Chicago-area corporate golf fundraiser. In 2007, he was elected to the Make-A-Wish Illinois Board of Directors where he served on the Fund Development Committee to help oversee fundraising strategy for the statewide organization.
Joe and his wife Joan personally connected with wish families when both worked on granting wishes over the years and through meeting many wish children at Make-A-Wish events.
"Joe was highly regarded within the Make-A-Wish family, not only for his commitment to our mission but also for the critical thinking skills he brought to Board, striking a great balance of challenging and supporting the initiatives of our chapter," said Stephanie Springs, Chief Executive Officer of Make-A-Wish Illinois. "He had a powerful impact on so many people."
"He was a great friend and a true champion of Make-A-Wish," said Debbie Purcell, Signature Events Manager at Make-A-Wish Illinois, who worked directly with Joe for several years on the golf event. "He will truly be missed."
Joe is survived by his wife Joan Clolery Dotoli and their two adult children and their families. He had a long and successful career as an insurance executive, most recently as President and CEO of Vericlaim and President of vrs Adjusters, the largest global network of independent adjusting companies in the world.
More than 1,400 volunteers and 41 staff members work to grant the wishes of Illinois children
