Unique Rolling Billboard Helps Share The Power of A Wish

GATX Corporation and PotashCorp Give "Rolling Billboard" Donation to Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Illinois

A reminder that dreams come true may soon roll through a town near you, thanks to a specially decorated railcar designed for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois by PotashCorp and GATX Corporation. Painted a brilliant blue, the car features the Make-A-Wish logo and tagline:  Share the Power of a Wish®. It's a railcar that will work double duty in the next year, delivering potash fertilizer - and increasing the visibility of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The railcar was unveiled at the Foundation's recent black tie gala, Wish Ball, held at Chicago's Union Station on May 2, 2009.  As major sponsors of Wish Ball 2009, PotashCorp and GATX collaborated to repaint a potash railcar at GATX's railcar maintenance facility in Waycross, Georgia. GATX was the presenting sponsor of the annual Wish Ball and PotashCorp, with a $25,000 donation to the Foundation, was a Platinum Sponsor.

"GATX is a long-term and enthusiastic supporter of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois," said Brian A. Kenney, President and Chief Executive Officer of GATX Corporation.  "I am pleased that our employees generated the wonderful idea of a Make-A-Wish-themed railcar, and I am thrilled that they worked with a great customer such as PotashCorp to make this idea into a reality."

"We've always admired the very special work the Make-A-Wish Foundation does," said Bill Doyle, PotashCorp President and Chief Executive Officer. "It's a pleasure to help fund the organization and build the visibility of the Foundation with the idea of a rolling billboard."

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois helps grant wishes to Illinois children facing life-threatening medical conditions such as leukemia, cystic fibrosis, brain tumors, and other childhood diseases. This year, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois will grant 700 wishes, a nearly 9-percent increase over last year.

"Wish Ball is the largest annual fundraiser for us, and we're very grateful for the generosity of our sponsors," said Stephanie Springs, Chief Executive Officer of the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Illinois. "We're delighted that PotashCorp and GATX employees have been so moved by our mission and have felt that they wanted to share the magic of the wishes we grant. We find that anyone who becomes involved in Make-A-Wish has a rewarding experience themselves."

"Once the car leaves Union Station, it'll head back to our Saskatchewan potash mines, load up and be on its way traveling throughout North America," said Bob Felgenhauer, Vice President, Transportation and Distribution for PotashCorp. "You never know when the bright blue railcar will come through a customer's hometown."

Felgenhauer said that when GATX suggested the idea of a Make-A-Wish themed railcar, PotashCorp agreed enthusiastically. "GATX is a good supplier of ours, and is a long-time supporter of the foundation," he said. "It's very rewarding to do something like this with a business partner that shares our business and philanthropic values."

For at least the next 12 months, be on the lookout for the blue PotashCorp railcar that is a beautiful reminder of the hope, strength and joy the Make-A-Wish Foundation shares with courageous children battling life-threatening medical conditions.
