Eligibility
The Make-A-Wish Foundation has a mission to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich their lives with hope, strength and joy. To qualify for a wish, a child:
- must be older than 2 1/2 and younger than 18 (wishes must be granted before the child's 21st birthday)
- must live in Illinois
- may not have had a wish granted previously by the Make-A-Wish Foundation or any other wish-granting organization
- is diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition at the time of referral. The child's treating physician is the one who determines whether an illness is life-threatening.
More than 70% of wishes granted are travel related. Frequent Flier Miles are always needed to help grant these wishes.
